Software Quality Assurance Engineer ( Buffalo, NY ) 12362
6 Month Contract

Pay Rate: $40-50/hr w2

The job is 100% onsite.

Software Quality Assurance Engineer join our Quality Assurance team of qualified, diverse individuals located at our Buffalo, NY campus. Telecommuting/remote work is not an option for this position. This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80, to allow employees every other Friday off. Future business needs may require a more traditional 5/40 work schedule to provide availability for demand.

Based on the job description what does a typical day look like?
a. Monitor GitHub Pull Request (PR), JIRA Test Task, and SW/FW Data Release (SFDR) queues throughout the day for review and approval assignments.
b. Review JIRA SW Issues regularly for trends and high-risk issues particularly customer identified issues.
i. Generate JIRA Issue MBR KPI charts monthly.
ii. Engage SW Eng in RCCA.
c. Review SWQA and SW Eng processes and procedures for compliance and best practice on an ad-hoc basis.
d. Engage SW Eng in Continuous Improvement (CI) ad-hoc.
e. Conduct quarterly SW audits each month.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, another STEM degree or equivalent and at least 5 years of software experience or 3 years with a Masters degree or 0 years with a PhD in one of the above disciplines.
Understanding of software engineering principles, practices, and theories.
Experience in operating in a Quality Management System (QMS).
Strong analytical skill with an understanding of basic problem solving.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Works well under pressure and adapt well to unplanned tasks.
Proficiency in MS Office Applications especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
US Citizenship required.

Preferred Skills:
Experience coding in Ada, C, C , and/or Python.
Ability to understand and work with multiple enterprise-wide systems and software problem tracking tools such as DOORs, GitHub, Jira, Confluence, and BitBucket.
Experience with ISO and AS9100 standards requirements.
Knowledge and/or experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action tools.
Ability and willingness to continuously learn and implement new processes.
Knowledge of waterfall and/or Agile life-cycles.
