Full Time 1 Medical Center Dr. Professional - Clinical Day Shift $15,000 SIGN ON BONUS. Relocation for Approved Offers. Position Summary The Sleep Studyies Technologists are required to obtain the highest quality study acquisition and to deliver therapeutic and supportive care in a cost efficient and timely manner following physician orders and department policies and protocols. Test results directly affect diagnostic and treatment decisions. The majority of the work is done under minimal supervision. At all times, Sleep Study Technologists are required to act in a professional and courteous manner in interacting with patients, patient families, visitors, physicians, and other members of the hospital staff. Most polysomnograms are done overnight. Daytime procedures include but are not limited to split night, diagnostic and therapeutic polysomnogram (psg), with CPAP, Bilevel, and servo ventillation, supplemental oxygen MSLT, MWT, PAP mask fittings and acclimations, daytime psg, out of center sleep testing(HST), manual scoring of sleep studies, out-patient overnight oximetry. Sleep Studies Technologists are required to adapt to technical advances in the field and learn new equipment and procedures as they are introduced. Sleep Studies Technologists report to the Sleep Lab Manager. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Education: Graduate of AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care, electroencephalogram diagnostics or polysomnography CAAHP approved program preferred. Completion of college level basic principles of polysomnography course preferred. License/Certifications: Registered polysomnographic technologist (RPSGT) credential required or able to obtain within 12 months of eligibility by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists. Credentialed as either a CRT or RRT by the National Board of Respiratory Care desired . An individual who has recently become eligible for any of these credentials may be hired on a probationary basis with the understanding that continuation of their employment will require they obtain a credential within one year of their hire date including the RPSGT. Respiratory Therapists/graduates current Maine license required. Both Respiratory and CAAHP graduate students actively pursuing credentials may be considered. BLS certification required. Experience: Two years of sleep study experience preferred. Must prove evidence of ability to conduct a wide range of sleep studies Ability to work independently under minimal supervision. Demonstration of effective written and spoken communication skills. Computer literate. Ability to communicate clearly and empathize with patients, therby eliciting cooperation during the performance of sleep studies and follow up therapeutic interventions. Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing with peers, managers and physicians. Ability to set priorities during high activity or abrupt patient scheduling changes. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail while performing and scoring tests. Ability to be flexible with schedule to meet the needs of the department.
