Sitka AK Trauma Informed Service University of Alaska SE The primary duties of the AmeriCorps volunteer will be to serve as a coordinator for the Rural Alaska Students in One Health Program. This is an NIH funded partnership between the University of Alaska Southeast, regional tribal organizations, the Sitka Sound Science Center, and regional high schools to provide students who are under-represented in biomedical science authentic community-based research experiences and college prep. As a valued member of the AmeriCorps community, you will share in some or all of the responsibilities listed below. If you have not done all these things, that is okay. We don't expect you to come in knowing how to do them and provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you. Plus, you will work with your program and site staff every step of the way. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here. Member Duties : Primary RASOR coordinator role (100 %): Serve with UAS staff to update website and social media with RASOR specific news and photographs. Assist with the Ocean Science Bowl quiz competition for high school students including writing and organizing quiz questions, brackets, set up, and judges training. Work one-on-one remotely with students (zoom, texting etc.) to support RASOR coursework, research or program goals including tutoring, mentoring, or accessing other university resources. Maybe can assist with developing course and promotional materials. May include the opportunity for travel to regional partner communities within Southeast Alaska.
