Sitka AK-COVID-19-Trauma-Informed-Sitka Counseling Sitka Counseling mission is to contribute to the social, behavioral, and emotional well-being of our diverse community and its members by providing professional preventative and therapeutic behavioral health services in a welcoming, accessible, integrated, continuous, and comprehensive continuum of care. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Works with department staff to identify ongoing resource needs.
• Plans community active and passive outreach efforts
• Collaborates with the agency's Prevention department to design and facilitate family engagement events
• Ensures the physical and psychological safety of clients
• Establishes trusting, positive, and meaningful relationships with clients.
• Facilitates group or individual therapeutic activities focused on healthy socioemotional development and life skills as prescribed for children ages 3 to 12
• Monitors and encourages client participation, teaching and modeling skills for active listening
• Utilizes age-appropriate interventions
• Aids clients in emotional regulation, teaching and modeling coping skills and strategies to mitigate distress
• Identifies clients in crisis and responds appropriately.
• Actively observes and interacts with children during sessions sufficiently to be able to record detailed and accurate notes on behaviors, emotions, participation in activities, and interactions within the environment.
• Documents clinical progress and relevant client information in accordance with state and federal regulations within the specified timeline following date of service.
• Maintains familiarity with individual client treatment plan goals
• Participates in weekly departmental meetings.
• Engages in weekly supervision
• Completes all required continuing education, trainings, certifications, departmental in-services, team-building exercises, and other professional development appropriate for the position. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps member at Sitka Counseling supports the Child & Family Services program by providing direct service to children, coordinating community outreach efforts, and by developing and expanding resources. Assists in the daily operations of the Family Center program by interacting directly with clients and actively supporting their therapeutic progress. Will facilitate behavioral health support services delivered at the Family Center for children in preschool through middle school. Will build therapeutic rapport with children and families, plan and facilitate activities, observe and address behavior, communicate with Clinicians, transport children clients, complete time-restricted documentation, and maintain physical spaces. Will serve the agency with unique responsibilities to facilitate community outreach and to develop therapeutic resources for use with children and families.
