Sitka AK-COVID-19-Trauma-Informed Enrichment activities include: -Breakfast Program: -Blessings in a Backpack: Deliver blessings in a backpack program which supports at-risk youth. Blessings in a backpack serves between 25-30 KGH students weekly throughout the school year. -Fresh Fruits and Veggies Program: Deliver the fresh fruits and veggies program. -Academic coaching provided 1:1 or in small groups for targeted youth -Build positive developmental relationships with students, families, and faculty. -Participate in staff meetings 1 x per week. -Improve student outcomes for at-risk youth through targeted inventions during recess. -Provide afterschool enrichment learning opportunities and culture classes for at-risk youth through the Sitka Native Education Program. -Develop and present enrichment activities outside school hours ie: school carnival. -Math Intervention: Deliver focused supplemental math instruction and support to individual or small groups of identified students. -Battle of the Books: Coach grade level teams participating in battle of the books. Prepare students for battle of the books competitions. -Computer Lab: Work with school principal and building technology rep to create the new computer lab. Monitor computer lab throughout the year - Checking temperatures -Assist with PE class -The key to being successful at KGH is communicating with staff to best assist them and ensure that you are supported as an individual. Flexibility and communication as well as good rain gear are all you really need to be happy and helpful at KGH. -AmeriCorps member will assist in a plethora of tasks including but not limited to: sanitizing classrooms, tutoring students, providing mental health support for students, driving students for various activities, and carrying out long-term side projects. Member Duties : At the beginning of the member service year, the Keet Gooshi Heen school counselor and faculty will identify a cohort of students who are struggling and at-risk. The member will serve these students through the formation of developmental relationships in a variety of enrichment activities over the course of the school year. This member will serve intentionally to build resiliency in students by acting as a liaison between social service agencies and the school to provide wrap around service for at-risk students. The AmeriCorps members serving in the school district are embedded within the schools in a way that is unique and provides a nurturing role model for at risk youth that affects their lives in a meaningful way.
