• Community and global citizenship Tutoring students, typically in core classes Assisting students with organization and prioritization of assignments Helping students access available resources, sometimes with the support of administration and/or outside agencies Offering help and oversight for students involved in credit recovery Providing back-up oversight for user groups (teachers and classes) in the SHS library and computer labs. Interfacing with teachers Maintenance of materials, support of classroom groups and oversight of students in the Learning Center Working with staff, administrators, and students to support projects and activities that enrich SHS students and increase their chances for present and future success. Communicating with parents and guardians, as appropriate. Provide extended learning opportunities for youth served in afterschool setting. Maintain productive, clear communication with students and parents from varied cultural and educational backgrounds. -Act as a classroom monitor -Observe students as they conduct classwork and keep them on task Need to be able to answer the occasional academic question. -Build relationships with students and be available for afterschool tutoring -This member is required to hold office hours after school and be available until 5:00 pm for tutoring. -Member is responsible to maintain a quiet study space for any student who needs it. Member Duties : At the beginning of the member service year, the SHS counselor and staff will guide the member in creating relationships with students who are struggling socially and are academically at risk. The position of Academic Program Support Provider at Sitka High School serves in conjunction with the high school's Learning Center to provide tutoring, support for students involved in credit recovery and coordination between the learning center, counselors, teachers and administrators.
