The SSHO will be responsible for the direct Safety and Compliance oversight of all Abatement, Demolition & Site Restoration activities for a USACE Project at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Edgewood, MD; including any additional subcontractors.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead daily safety meetings and conduct routine safety/health inspections and report back weekly to the office
  • Conduct refresher training as needed; including but not limited to tools, lifts, confined space etc
  • Conduct compliance assurance for all Asbestos Containments & Workplans
  • Coordinate any corrective actions with EnviroVantage Site Superintendent

Experience:

  • Minimum 5-10yrs Experience as a safety officer in the Asbestos Abatement, Demolition. Remediation field
  • OSHA 30 and HAZWOPER 40 required. If not current, willing to get certificate within 30 days of hire
  • Previous experience as an SSHO on a USACE project - required
  • Ability to speak Spanish - preferred
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with OSHA:1926.1101;1926.62 and others
  • Strong working knowledge of EM385-1-1

Working Environment/Physical Demands:
  • Respirator usage will be required
  • Must be able to perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, walking, carrying, and using a force equal to lifting 50 to 100 pounds
  • Qualified Candidate must be able to pass a physical examination by medical professional for the anticipated work requirements
  • Must be able to pass a background check and be able to obtain access to military bases across the United States
  • A valid driver's license is required, as well as a safe driving record as measured by company policy
