What you will do at Precinct One The successful candidate will be a member of the Precinct's Road & Bridge Sign Shop team, a subdivision of the Development and Infrastructure Division. You will provide technical and supervisory assistance for the creation, production, and installation of traffic, wayfaring, regulatory, instructional, and identification signage. The Foreman will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic goals that align with the Precinct's and the subdivisions' mission. You will develop, implement, communicate, and train employees on standard operating procedures that provide efficiency and effectiveness. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This individual also prioritizes and assigns daily work assignments for the team. Monitors, coaches, and counsels employees on their performance. Visits work sites to ensure staff are carrying out assignments effectively. Trains employees on machinery and equipment, safety, and operational procedures. This includes working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the success of the sub-division and provide reports on completed and forecasted activities. All other duties as assigned. Requirements What you will bring to Precinct One Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent Experience: Three (3) years of experience leading staff in a related environment Licensure: Valid Texas State Driver's License Commercial Driver's License Class A or B within given time frame Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of hand tools, equipment, materials, and procedures required to perform tasks. Skilled at work delegation, assignment of duties, and follow-up. Skilled communicator both written and verbal. Ability to influence and lead diverse employees and stakeholders. Preferences Experience: Trade school experience (preferred) General Information Position Type: Full-time Regular Days and hours may vary depending on the assigned shift. Required to be available to respond to emergencies. Work Environment and Physical Demands: This is a physically active position which requires exerting more than 50 pounds of forceoccasionally, and/or above 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This job operates in an indoor and outdoor environment. Exposure to various weather conditions,temperature variations, loud noises, and possible dangerous chemicals may be encountered. About the Road & Bridge Division The Road & Bridge Subdivision's mission is to offer a responsive public service while executing a high level of maintenance on Precinct One roads, bridges, hike and bike trails, and county rights-of-way, to improve mobility and the quality of life for the constituents of Precinct One. About Precinct One There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners, along with an elected county judge, serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court, the administrative head of the county's government. With approximately 1.1 million residents, Harris County Precinct One is a diverse, urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct One's multi-racial, multi-ethnic population is roughly 39 percent African American, 37 percent Latino, 18 percent Anglo, 5 percent Asian, and 1 percent other. Precinct One, which includes 876 miles of road, stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precinct's territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston, including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex, Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park, and the BBVA Compass Stadium.
