Position: Position Summary
The Inspector is responsible to countersink metal work in compliance with customer, company, and OSHA standards and requirements.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Reports to: Quality Facilitator
Supervises: N/A
Specific Educational/ Vocational Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED or vocational training.
  • Combination of education, experience, and training may be substituted for these requirements.
Principle Responsibilities/ Accountabilities
  • Handles metal parts with precision and accuracy while inspecting for imperfections or defects.
  • Inspects parts at the end of the grind lines for visual defects.
  • Utilizes basic gages to verify tolerances indicated by blueprints and/or sample parts.
  • Verifies completion of operations and correct part identification through shop order tickets.
  • Maintains accurate records of inspection results.
  • Buffs minor cosmetic blemishes and nicks from parts during "down time" for grinders.
  • Magnetic Particle inspects any parts staged for Magna Flux.
  • Performs final inspection audits and jobs (1058, 1059, KB366, etc.)
  • Requests work assignments from the packaging department re completed.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required by company policy and OSHA standards.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance as necessary.
  • Performs other duties/ tasks as directed by supervision or management.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience using basic manufacturing tools and equipment such as grinders, drills, presses, measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, or fixed or telescopic gauges, etc.
  • Working knowledge of the Manufacturing Industry.
  • Detail oriented with excellent hand/ eye coordination.
  • Basic math skills with or without a calculator.
  • Basic knowledge of federal and state regulations (OSHA, EPA).
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to keep work area neat and clean and eliminate potential hazards.
  • Ability to conform to company policies/ procedures and OSHA standards with the goal of zero safety related incidents.
  • Ability to work various schedules including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability and capacity to train and expand knowledge based on company specifications and requirements.
