Job Title: Specialist in Structural Steel Estimation and Business Development

Salary: 65k - 90k

Reports to: Vice President of Sales and Estimating

Key Competencies:

  • Estimation: Possesses a comprehensive understanding of estimating and contract management principles within the construction industry.
  • Planning and Organization: Demonstrates the ability to maintain organization across multiple projects, progress consistently towards goals, and drive results to completion.
  • Collaboration: Creates a collaborative atmosphere within the estimating team, the organization, and client relationships.
  • Negotiation: Effectively explores alternatives to achieve mutually advantageous outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and timely estimates using E-Takeoff and Tekla EPM System.
  • Comprehend the project scope of bid documents/specifications for the preparation and development of proposals detailed in Architectural and Structural Drawings.
  • Coordinate sub-supplier proposals and quotes, including scope, price, and schedule.
  • Organize and track all design changes and RFI's.
  • Develop estimates, pricing, and proposal formats for the submittal of change requests.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, maintaining existing relationships with current clients.
  • Meet with General Contractors to position the client for future projects, managing the process to deliver numbers to the client, including value engineering.
  • Handle objections or challenges to be awarded projects.
  • Prospect and maintain strong, effective, long-term relationships with agency and consultant clientele.
  • Develop sales plans, proposals, and presentations to win new projects.
  • Act as a liaison between customers and the company to resolve inquiries.
  • Work closely with Estimating, Project Management, and Sales Manager to coordinate and manage projects.
  • Engage in industry marketing and education through technical presentations, conference attendance, trade organization participation, and overall active industry involvement.
  • Track upcoming regional business opportunities.
  • Identify and develop strategic opportunities for the growth of the market for steel foundation products.

Qualifications for Additional Responsibilities:

  • 3 5 years of experience in Steel Fabrication/Installation projects in the Central FL area.
  • Estimating experience in the construction industry is a plus.
  • Experience in handling/winning government contracts.
  • Established relationships with general contractors are essential.
  • Two or more years of experience in Business Development/Marketing, with a track record of exceeding lead targets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Superior grammar/punctuation and attention to detail in written communication.
  • Strong call technique skills, including active listening and objection handling.
  • Ability to quickly implement feedback to improve overall quality and production.
  • Willingness to accept constructive criticism.
  • Proven track record of excellent attendance.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Driven to meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of Constructability and Erection fit-up.
  • Understanding of the Fabrication process.
  • Understanding of Construction Materials.
  • Communication with sub-suppliers and customers.
  • Organization and prioritization.
  • Teamwork.
