PURPOSE OF POSITION: Complete set-up and changeovers of injection molding machines.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


• Experience and proficiency in the set-up and changeover of both hydraulic and electric injection molding machines of 25 to 400-ton press sizes, as well as all related secondary equipment (i.e., material pumps, chillers, and temperature control units).


• Installation Qualification responsibility to ensure press is set-up to requirements provided by Engineering and/or listed in the installation validation protocol.


• Responsible for material management - the scanning of material in/out of IQMS when pulled and then the return of material to inventory.


• Assemble and disassemble injection molding machines


• Change in-press mold inserts


• Clean mold components


• Inspect components for damage


• Troubleshoot machine issues


• Perform preventative tools (molds)


• Assist with color and materials changes as needed


• Maintain a clean and safe workplace


• Perform line clearance at the end of each production line.


• Perform color refill as needed on every press.


• Establish the production process using saved press programs and the standard listed on the traveler. Use forms and work instructions on the computer.


• Understand and use travelers, blueprints, engineering specifications, Standard Operator Procedures (SOP) as required to perform set-ups and correct problems following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).


• Meet turn around time goal for set-up.


• Understand and operate all press controls and operator interfaces.


• Place material and color at presses while following proper IQMS inventory transactions.


• Maintain accurate written records and use the IQMS or WMS system as required for documentation.


• Be knowledgeable of all the requirements involved in starting up and/or closing the plant.


• Promote safety by abiding to all related policies and procedures.


• Participate in and lead training initiatives and 5S activities to improve personal and co-worker skill sets.


• Communication with prior and oncoming shifts to give work assignments and expectations to achieve production requirements and promote shift interaction and awareness.


• Communication with supervisors, manufacturing engineers, maintenance technicians, quality assurance personnel and press operators.


• Hold a valid Fork Truck license within 90 days of hire date.


• Perform other related duties as assigned by lead and/or supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS


• Education Requirements

o High school diploma or equivalent


• Knowledge/experience beyond minimum requirements

o Relevant experience as a process set-up technician in the field with a strong mechanical aptitude required.

o Plus is a two-year technical/trade school or specialized in a technical skill (i.e., HVAC, Electrical, etc.)

o Knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electronics

o Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percentage and to interpret bar graphs.

o Plus is a journeyman card for electrical, machine repair or millwright.

o Ability to work and make decisions independently that supports the productions environment.

o Experience with hand and power tools

o Attention to details.


PREFERRED SKILLS


• Language Skills

o Ability to read and write in English.


• Mathematical Skills

o Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


• Reasoning Ability

o Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out assignments or request assistance when required.


• Computer Skills

o Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to clock in and clock out of production jobs.


• Physical Demands

o While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.

o The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time.

o The employee must be able to walk steps between the floors in the building regularly.

o Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

o Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

o Employee may be required to work long hours exposed to high heat and humidity.

o The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

o All employees will be provided training on working safely, evacuation procedures, accident reporting and other safety topics the company feels are necessary to ensure and maintain a safe work environment from hazards to the employee.
