Description

Summary:

Service Technicians utilize skills and knowledge in mechanical, fluid power, electrical and electronic systems to help provide support in the install, repair, and maintain equipment at customer facilities throughout the United States and foreign countries. As knowledge is gained of Company equipment and process, this position could develop into a Field Service Engineer role.

Essential Functions:
  1. Builds quotes for service work by getting estimates on labor, pricing from vendors, review of historical data on the equipment, and schedule availability.
  2. Assists in resolving or fielding customer service issues to the appropriate department.
  3. Provides troubleshooting remotely for customers.
  4. Offers retrofit and design improvements on existing equipment, if applicable.
  5. May assist in installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  6. Assists in determining preventative maintenance and determines when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  7. Confers with customer representatives to determine effective methods of machine operation for specific tasks.
  8. Assists with training customer personnel in operating, adjusting, maintaining, and repairing machinery or equipment.
  9. May be asked to assist in the identification of training needs and participate in the development of machine-specific training programs.
  10. Travels as required (up to 10% of the time; may increase as experience is gained).
  11. Additional duties as required.


Requirements

Preferred:
  1. Associates of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a technical field, or equivalent work experience and demonstrated technical capability.
  2. Experience using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
  3. Experience installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  4. Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  5. Background in industrial control hardware and software, tool and die operations, welding, fluid power, mechanical systems, and/or hydraulics.
  6. Working knowledge of Windows-based personal computers and software.
  7. Represent the Company in a professional, positive manner.
  8. Develops plans to accomplish work and prioritize and organize one's own work.
  9. Handles multiple, and often conflicting, priorities.
  10. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  11. Ability to effectively instruct customer operators and repair technicians.
  12. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
