Senior Tax Analyst Key Responsibilities:
- General Tax Expertise:
- Demonstrate a robust understanding of diverse tax concepts, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Execute comprehensive analysis and interpretation of tax laws and regulations to ensure adherence to applicable standards.
- Provide strategic tax advice and recommendations to optimize tax planning and minimize tax liabilities.
- Specialized Tax Areas: a. Sales/Use Tax and Tax Exemption:
- Possess in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in managing sales/use tax matters.
- Navigate complex tax exemption processes and regulations, particularly within the energy and wholesale sectors. b. Property Tax:
- Exhibit proficiency in property tax management, with a focus on energy-related assets and properties.
- Manage assessment appeals, exemptions, and valuation processes effectively.
- Severance Tax:
- Specialize in severance tax compliance and reporting, especially within the energy industry.
- Ensure accurate calculation and timely filing of severance tax returns.
- Private Equity Income Tax (Preferred):
- Familiarity with private equity income tax concepts and regulations is advantageous.
- Provide support in tax planning and structuring for private equity transactions.
- Tax System Proficiency:
- Utilize tax software systems such as OneSource, Vertex, or Avalara for efficient tax management and compliance.
- Maintain and update tax databases, ensuring accurate and timely data input.
- Collaborate with IT teams for system enhancements and customization as needed.
Senior Tax Analyst Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field. CPA or advanced degree (e.g., MST) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in taxation, with a focus on sales/use tax, property tax, and/or severance tax. Energy industry experience highly preferred.
- Proficiency in tax software systems such as OneSource, Vertex, or Avalara.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
