Job Summary:
The Sr. Systems Engineer is a critical role within our IT department, responsible for managing, troubleshooting, and administering a diverse range of systems and technologies. Working under the general supervision of the CIO, this role ensures the seamless operation of our digital infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration & Management:
Manage and troubleshoot:
Windows/Red Hat server OS
VMware platforms
Client servers
Nimble/NetApp SAN
Palo-Alto firewalls
Aruba routers, switches, Client, and AP controllers
VLANs
Maintain and manage:
Active Directory
DNS
DHCP
SSO
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
SAML
Network & Security:
Design, implement, and maintain security protocols to restrict unauthorized access.
Perform hourly/daily backups and data restorations using Rapid Recovery backup solutions.
Communication Systems:
Administer Avaya VoIP systems.
Cloud & Software Management:
Manage MS 365, MS OneDrive, and related technologies.
Use tools for deployment and management, including scripting with PowerShell, Python, Jenkins, or Ansible.
System Updates & Technology Deployment:
Ensure systems are up-to-date with patches/security updates.
Create, evaluate, and implement new technology deployment plans.
Technical Analysis & Problem-Solving:
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and application issues.
Coordinate with vendors for support and solutions.
Project Coordination & Collaboration:
Develop work plans, outline project phases, and identify personnel and equipment requirements.
Attend and contribute to weekly project meetings.
Cost Analysis & Recommendations:
Perform cost analyses and vendor comparisons for software/hardware.
Recommend efficient and cost-effective solutions.
Mentorship & Team Collaboration:
Provide guidance and training to less experienced personnel.
Collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
General Duties:
Maintain confidentiality of information.
Utilize effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
Perform other related duties as assigned, including after-hours and on-call service.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree preferred, or Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise digital infrastructure.
Experience:
Extensive experience with:
VMware platforms
Linux/Windows server administration and troubleshooting
Tools for software deployment and management
Proficiency in scripting with:
PowerShell
Python
Jenkins
Ansible
Skills:
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to work in a collaborative environment, multitask, and handle diverse tasks and projects.
