Strategic Insight, Ltd. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer - Combat Systems (CS) (General Associate) position in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Integrated Combat Systems (V) Department Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) system engineering team. Job location is Dahlgren, King George, VA. Mandatory Requirement: Applicants selected for this position may be subject to a Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret clearance level. The NSWC Dahlgren Division is a leading research, development, testing, and engineering (RDT&E) organization within the Department of the Navy. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Conduct detailed, complex engineering activities associated with engineering systems, capabilities, and activities,
Functional and system level requirements analysis, requirements generation and technical community review,
System engineering design, performance, analysis, operational experience for military applications,
Development of system engineering products including: the definition, functional allocation, design development, testing, integration, and operational performance, and
Development of total system solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Success for working in this position requires: Ability to effectively communicate and work with NSWC Dahlgren Division and Department staff at all levels, consultants, and other government staff - be a team player,
Ability to work with sensitive and classified information,
Ability to work with NMCI systems,
Ability to adapt and multi-task,
Ability to work with a high degree of independence, discretion, and personal initiative,
Self-starter, goal oriented, provides timely feedback on progress made on assignments,
Excellent organizational skills: ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks, handle complex assignments, maintain status across several stakeholders, and work in a fast-paced environment,
Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills,
Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) including the ability to create and maintain spreadsheets, prepare presentation slides, and produce customized reports, and
High degree of attention to detail and accuracy in completing assignments, including good proof reading, grammar, and analytical skills.
Education and Experience: Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) Accredited Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree from ABET recognized engineering curriculum. Examples include: Mechanical Engineering (ME) / Electrical Engineering (EE) / Industrial Engineering (IE) / Computer Science and Engineering (CSE),
OR
b) BS Degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that includes 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics,
Examples:
i) Applied Math
ii) Applied Physics
iii) Operational Research
iv) Modeling and Simulation
v) Chemistry
vi) Computer Science
vii) Naval Architecture
Experience: Ten (10) years of General Surface Navy Combat Systems systems engineering experience (Naval engineering or combat systems engineering)
with ten (10) years of specialized experience with emphasis in one or more of the following:
a) Combat Systems Cyber Security
b) Ships Self Defense System
c) Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) class frigate
d) Aegis Integrated Combat Systems
e) DDG-1000 Zumwalt class destroyer
f) Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense
g) Element Level (Weapon, Sensor, or Combat Management System) Experience
Proficient to expert level user of Microsoft Excel, Project, Power Point, and Word, and
Proficient with Confluence and JIRA tools.
