Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Permanent Senior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This individual will play a crucial role in maintaining and controlling the general ledger accounts and business transactions of our organization. They will apply the principles of accounting to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, ensure appropriate accounting control procedures, and develop budgets and financial forecasts. Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll and utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity etc.
  • Prepare and analyze accurate monthly financial and management reports, including income statement, balance sheet, budget and variance, projections and forecast, and cash flow.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of financial data, report and assess company financial performance.
  • Participate in the ongoing development and implementation of accounting systems and business processes to ensure scalability.
  • Prepare and coordinate the audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal processes, maintain and strengthen internal controls that comply with regulatory standards.
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insightful financial data to support decision making.
  • Work with the finance team to streamline accounting functions and operations, providing strategic recommendations to optimize financial performance and strategic position.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of proven accounting experience, preferably in a senior role.
  • Professional certification (e.g. CMA, CGA, or CPA) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
  • High proficiency in financial reporting, including end-of-month reports, budgets, forecasts and financial statements.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, especially in MS Excel, accounting software and databases.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work closely with a senior management team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
