Senior Software Engineer

Develop and optimize the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of Starburst Galaxy service. Responsible for designing and developing the infrastructure and software for Starburst products, including Starburst Presto on Kubernetes solution, Starburst Presto SaaS platform components, and Starburst Presto cloud solutions on Amazon Web Services, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. Design and develop infrastructure and software for Starburst Products; implement core pieces of AWS, Azure, and GCP infrastructure and customer solutions. Develop testing infrastructure and testing across the various product integrations. Write tests and contribute to ongoing automation infrastructure development. Improve our engineering processes, tests, and systems that allow us to scale the code base and productivity of the team. Review peers pull requests and design proposals. Implement core pieces of AWS, Azure, and GCP infrastructure and customer solutions. Develop testing infrastructure and testing across various product integrations, including the backend infrastructure related to product features. Write tests and contribute to ongoing automation infrastructure development. Implement performance test automation and collaborate with teams globally in an Agile development environment. Support our product in production. Drive collaboration with various stakeholders around the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of Starburst Galaxy.
Telecommuting is permitted up to 100% of the time.
Three (3) years of experience in the following
(experience may be gained concurrently):
-JVM ecosystem (running, debugging)
-Distributed systems design, implementation, and testing
-Unix and Linux system administration experience
-Java, Typescript, and Go (Golang)
Two (2) years of experience in the following
(experience may be gained concurrently):
-Promoting code via a Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery system
-Utilizing an observability platform for monitoring and alerting
One (1) year of experience in the following
(experience may be gained concurrently):
-Kubernetes
-BigData processing tools
-SaaS platform
-Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Requires a Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or a directly related field plus five (5) years of experience as Software Engineer or related occupation developing software applications. In the alternative, will accept a Masters degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or a directly related field plus three (3) years of experience as Software Engineer or related occupation developing software applications. Pre- or post-Masters experience is acceptable.
