PRIMARY FUNCTION:


The Senior Software Development Engineer plays a central role in the Health & Technology Innovation Center's mission to introduce and successfully implement new, cutting-edge solutions that positively impact our community.


This role is responsible for planning, designing, and building new software solutions, producing clean code, and mentoring junior engineers along the way. The successful candidate will be adept at analysis, testing, implementation, and support of new software, and will possess extensive experience in software development in an agile setting with in-depth knowledge of programming languages and databases. This position is 100% onsite in Wilmington, Delaware, at our Health & Technology Innovation Center.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work as part of a team to design, build, and support custom software solutions
  • Maintain a strong focus on meeting deadlines, budgets, scope, and code quality
  • Actively participate as a member of a scrum team in work planning and execution
  • Perform code reviews and adhere to quality standards, mentoring junior team members
  • Collaborate with the Solution Architect to plan new Innovation Center solutions, making recommendations for applying new technologies and approaches
  • Introduce new and innovative ways to engineer software solutions to the team of engineers
  • Produce scalable, robust, high-quality code
  • Evaluate existing systems to improve their effectiveness and efficiency while reducing operational costs
  • Develop and maintain quality project, system, and operational documentation using the established project management methodology and departmental templates
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and scripts
  • Work independently and collaboratively with a Scrum team
  • Apply fundamental programming principles to new and emerging languages
  • Maintain flexibility with learning new skills both technical and non-technical as needed
  • Willingness to support Innovation Center initiatives by providing help in areas outside of personal expertise
  • Represent the Innovation Center during tours, presentations, and other events outside of traditional business hours

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to information technology
  • Acquired eight or more years of coding experience, including Service Oriented Architecture, mobile, web and/or client-server
  • Expertise with developing web applications in Microsoft Visual Studio using .NET (Core) and C , .NET Maui a plus
  • Expertise with debugging, deploying, and maintaining cloud hosted applications (AWS, Azure)
  • Expertise with designing and implementing relational data models using Entity Framework, SQL Server, and Transact-SQL
  • Expertise with access and authorization using Active Directory
  • Hands on experience debugging applications using the tools such as Visual Studio, server/service logs, Postman, etc.
  • Expertise in web technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS)
  • A combination of education and experience may be substituted

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some travel required
  • Must be willing to get certified in Usability, Foresight, Scrum, and ITIL within the first 12 months of employment
