OPPORTUNITY
Mammoth Biosciences is seeking a Sr Scientist I/II, Bioinformatics to join its growing team. The successful candidate will contribute towards Mammoth's efforts to develop safe and effective therapeutic treatments for genetic diseases. They will work closely with researchers, development teams, and external partners to establish statistical analysis tools, design assays, and produce insights on the effects of our novel CRISPR systems. The Senior Bioinformatics Scientist will also interact closely with the computational team to define and use internal tooling. This is a hybrid role; expectations for time in office can be discussed depending on experience level.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design analysis pipelines for multi-omics data (genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics)
  • Work closely with the project teams to track assay data, automate analyses, and deliver scientific insights
  • Enable scientists to access and visualize their data
  • Work with bioinformaticians, data scientists, software, and data engineers engineers to deliver sized-for-need solutions

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD, MS, or BS degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a related field
  • Sr Scientist I: PhD with 3+ years of industry experience, or MS with 6+ years of industry experience, or BS with 8+ years of industry experience
  • Sr Scientist II: PhD with 4+ years of industry experience, or MS with 7+ years of industry experience, or BS with 9+ years of industry experience
  • Industry expertise in building bioinformatics pipelines and analyzing data related to gene editing therapeutics
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, including tools/libraries for data analysis (pandas, jupyter, plotting libraries)
  • Experience modeling lab assays with LIMS system, preferably using Benchling
  • Strong communication, data visualization, and organizational skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and mathematical models in the interpretation of biological data
  • Proficiency with collaborative coding and version control tools (git and github)
  • Experience working with workflow management systems (Prefect, CWL, Nextflow)
  • Experience deploying analysis pipeline solutions (Docker, AWS Batch, AWS S3)
  • Experience writing code in a production environment (CI/CD, testing)

Base Salary Range: $155,000 - $182,350

The listed base salary range is for Mammoth employees in the Bay Area. Actual base salary will be determined by geographic work location, relevant professional experience, applicable skills, and internal equity. The base salary range for those working remotely outside of the San Francisco Bay Area may differ and will be determined by industry market data for the role and specific region
