Job Description

We are seeking a Part-Time Senior School English Teacher for the 2024-25 school year. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in critical reading, writing, and effective teaching methods. Key to this role is the ability to collaborate well with colleagues and build positive student relationships.


The new faculty member will dedicate themselves to advancing our English Department's goals: promoting critical thinking through literature, enhancing communication skills across various mediums, and encouraging meaningful engagement with diverse perspectives to foster personal and academic growth.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a member of the Senior School faculty, teaching two sections of English 10, each meeting 5 out of every 8 school days.
  • Must be available between 8:00 AM and 3:15 PM; specific class times will rotate day-to-day.
  • Maintain office hours either before or after each teaching period.
  • Co-plan and collaborate with the English 10 teaching team, ensuring cohesive and comprehensive curriculum delivery.
  • Mentor and support students as they strive to become stronger writers and critical thinkers who are well-prepared to take on the challenges of college-level courses
  • Create a positive, stimulating learning environment.
  • Regularly communicate with students, parents, and colleagues to promote student success.
  • Perform other job duties assigned to you in your role.
  • Attend all meetings and events required by faculty members.

  • Demonstrate a desire for constant professional and personal growth by regularly participating in and seeking out professional learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Rhetoric & Composition, Comparative Literature, or a related field is required; Master's degree preferred
  • A minimum of three years of secondary school English teaching experience
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven success working collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, parents, and school leaders
