Summary: The Senior Residential Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting 1-4 family residential loan files and consumer loans which are originated through multiple origination channels and/or product types. The role will also require strong knowledge and experience with complex loan files including self-employed borrowers and thorough knowledge of agency underwriting guidelines for loans sold on the secondary market. Salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $105,000 to $120,000 annually. The exact compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, education, training, licensure and certifications, and location. All applicants must attach a recent resume. This is not a remote role. Responsibilities: Underwrite complex loan files, making recommendations for approval or denial. Supervise two (2) residential underwriters. Provide assistance with loan scenarios presented by loan originators and contacting investors if necessary. Review files for reinstatement or override of conditions. Assist in the training of new employees. Review denied or suspended files with Management. Contact with Fannie Mae for any questions or issues related to Desktop Underwriter. Perform additional responsibilities as required. Qualifications: Associates degree or comparable work experience preferred. Minimum 5 years' underwriting experience from banks preferred. Must have underwritten high loan amounts up to $3M. Very knowledgeable and experienced in underwriting Fannie Mae loans. Previous managerial/supervisory experience required. Strong knowledge of consumer laws and regulations for residential/consumer loans. Background in FNMA/FHLMC required. Strong organization skills, detail-oriented, and ability to prioritize. Good interpersonal skills working with retail loan originators, mortgage brokers, investors, and various levels of company management. Good computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office. Effective time management, written and oral communication skills.
