Role: Senior REDCap Configuration Specialist -Part-time

Location: Remote

Duration: 6 Months with possibility of extensions.




Note: 20 hours, may require Saturday as needed. Flexible Schedule with at-least-10 hours within regular business hours of 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.


Summary

Agency is seeking Senior REDCap Configuration Specialist to work closely with epidemiologists, Program, and IT staff. The specialist will focus on Application Development leveraging agency's REDCap platform.

The initial focus will be on developing an Outbreak Management System, designed for use by Long Term Care Facilities and other organizations in close collaboration with agency staff. This role aims to strengthen the state's data management capabilities in public health data collection and analysis.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with state epidemiologists, agency Program, and IT staff to identify requirements design, and implement REDCap-based solutions tailored to public health needs, starting with the Outbreak Management System.
    • Creatively address challenges, conduct analysis, and develop/revise data management procedures to optimize the utilization of REDCap.
    • Provide expertise and develop user interfaces, system/application configuration, system interfaces and database components. Review and optimize system queries to enhance quality assessment and improvement procedures within the Outbreak Management System.
    • Utilize expertise in MySQL and PHP to optimize and customize REDCap configurations hosted in-house.

  • Develop protocols ensuring timely access to public health interventions and services.

Provide training and support to staff on utilizing REDCap effectively and integrating it into existing workflows.

  • Ensure the adoption of new processes improves data integrity, program effectiveness, and supports public health initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail, proactive communication, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in REDCap configuration and customization, with at least 2 years of experience in advanced system functionality.
  • Previous experience working with Public Health agencies (State/Federal), clinics or organizations leveraging REDCAP in a similar / advanced capacity will be a differentiator and highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office management tools, including Excel and Access.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in data management.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Public Health, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in advanced REDCap configuration and customization.
  • Previous experience working in Public Health agencies, clinics, or organizations in a similar capacity is highly preferred.
  • Previous software development experience in state government in public health domain is highly preferred.
  • Experience in database management, particularly with MySQL (version 5.5.5) and PHP (7.2.5) and building and optimizing queries using SQL.
  • Experience in developing and conducting quality assessment/improvement projects.

This role is pivotal in advancing agency's capabilities in data collection, management, and analysis, thereby supporting informed decision-making and enhancing public health outcomes, especially for Long Term Care Facilities and collaborating organizations.
