Job Description and Duties Metropolitan State Hospital is located in the city of Norwalk. The Senior Psychiatrist (Supervisor) shall supervise the work of the medical staff and assist in coordination of care with other disciplines, maintain a high standard of psychiatric and medical care; review medical records to assure adequacy and proper administration of treatment, as well as quality of care; evaluate staff psychiatrist's performance, adherence to hospital policy, make recommendations and/or take action as needed; chair and participate in Treatment Review Committees, review pharmacological treatment plans, interview patients, interview staff, promote the participation of all disciplines in case review conferences, and provide recommendations for improvement of patient care to the treatment teams; make clinical and teaching rounds; and both plan and provide training to staff, residents and/or medical students. Additionally, the Senior Psychiatrist (Supervisor) will ensure appropriate Orientation and Training of Medical Staff; collaborate with Medical Director and Program Management to evaluate staff performance and takes or recommend appropriate action; and assist the Medical Director in recruitment of medical staff, hiring interviews and/or represent the Medical Director in Committees and Meetings. DSH-Metropolitan is an 800+ bed complex that provides a broad spectrum of inpatient psychiatric services to adult and geriatric patients of different legal status.
