General Summary:

The Senior Producer and Director will participate in strategic planning, create program plans, materials and outreach tools, coordinate meetings and workshops, write programmatic and assessment reports with the assistance of the PIs and partners, mentor program Fellows and manage administrative support to the program. This position is grant funded and continuation after September 2025 is contingent upon funding.

Examples of Duties:

  • Senior Producer. Develop relationships with communities, develop stories, and produce podcasts that will be shared among and between communities of high quality that can be aired on Living on Earth.
  • Director. Oversee all aspects of SFE side of CEJM. Direct students and work with PI Robert Chen and project manager, Darcy Cook to ensure successful completion of all deliverables of CEJM to the Waverley Street Foundation.
  • Student Support and Mentoring. Work with PIs and networks to advertise and follow up individually to ensure successful student Fellow recruitment, and their appropriate participation in the program and with program events.

Serve as mentor and coach to students to enhance student success and achieve the goals of the specific student development programs.This includes academic coaching and providing professional guidance.

Design and lead workshops for students and coach students individually as needed.

  • Outreach. Manage program development, share ideas, implement collaborations, coordinate student recruitment, and maintain a programmatic network.

Manage program websites and social media sites, including writing, updating and uploading content.

Conduct outreach to other colleges and universities to forge external partnerships with related programs; invite representatives from other universities to participate in programs at UMB such as student workshops.

  • Recruitment, Admissions, and Tracking of Student Participants:

Manage the student recruitment and admissions process for the program, including developing recruitment materials, communicating with prospective student applicants, participating in the admissions process, and tracking applications. Coordinate the tracking of program participants and program graduates (alumni), including long-term outcomes.

  • Coordination of Evaluation:

Work with PIs to collect and analyze programmatic data for the purpose of program evaluation and reporting to funding agencies.

Work with PIs and students to analyze project outcomes; strategize with directors and advisory committees to propose changes to maximize program effectiveness.

  • Day-to-day Administration and Planning of Program Activities:

Schedule and arrange logistics for meetings, workshops, seminars and other events and activities for the training and guidance of undergraduate students.

Oversee program budgets, including payroll, and carry out other aspects of day-to-day financial administration.

  • Funding Agency and University Compliance:

Act as Program Directors' designee for creating and maintaining student trainee appointments in funding agency databases, such as the NIH-eRA Commons Xtrain system.

Collect and archive data and documentation related to projects to ensure compliance with University and federal grant requirements.

  • Strategic Planning:

Work with Program Directors to carry out short and long-term strategic planning for the student Fellow programs This includes planning for recruitment, program development, budget, and evaluation, as well as long-term planning for new program development.

Communicate project needs to program directors as related to student activities, outcomes, and budget.

Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Master's degree in media or related fields and 7-10 years' experience in media project management.

  • Prior experience and ability to instruct, guide and mentor students in writing and media projects
  • Prior experience and ability with producing high quality media
  • Prior experience and ability with partnership coordination and management
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with university faculty, staff, and students
  • Prior experience with evaluation methods and data management
  • High degree of organization, initiative, self-direction, and resourcefulness
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work
  • Ability to navigate and update social media
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional travel
  • A strong commitment to and knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access principles.
