Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our diverse team of professionals. This position is open to hybrid work from Melbourne, FL or Redondo Beach, CA.

As a member of the Model Based Sustainment within Product Support team, you will define, develop, implement, and transition new technology solutions for the digital ecosystem of various government platforms with a focus on data aggregation for maintenance and sustainment processes and maintenance work instructions. Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

The position requires a strong understanding of computer and database systems and application development techniques. Strong written and oral communication skills are required as the position involves extensive interfacing with internal customers, program offices, engineering disciplines, and industry suppliers. You must have a proven ability to drive business results with your data-based insights. The role will require the individual to be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. The desired candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform complex development based on user data requirements and processes

  • Construct complex system / data architectures

  • Build and support dashboards and visuals

  • Assess new technologies and software platforms

  • Support project management and planning as required

  • Communicate advanced concepts and information in an understandable manner for audiences of varying levels of competency. Continuous interface with stakeholders, vendors, and customers is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with 9 years' experience with information systems, data analytics and/or computer programming; OR Master's Degree in STEM with 7 years' experience with information systems, data analytics and/or computer programming; OR PhD STEM with 4 years' experience with information systems, data analytics and/or computer programming

  • Experience with querying relational databases

  • Experience with Oracle APEX

  • Experience with Javascript, HTML / CSS to support dashboards and visuals

  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on production environments

  • Experience working with and creating data architectures

  • Ability to perform data analysis and report findings

  • Proven ability to learn and master new technologies and techniques

  • User requirement gathering

  • This position requires an active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access.

  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PL / SQL

  • Experience with Oracle Forms & Reports

  • Experience in the development and sustainment of military platforms.

  • Current active Secret or Top-Secret clearance preferred

  • Self-starter who is able to work with minimal direction

Salary Range: $114,900 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
