This position supports Shelton, CT, and Pittsburgh, PA, as a hybrid role, requiring reporting to 2 Armstrong Road, Shelton. The Payroll Specialist assists the Payroll Team by accurately and efficiently processing, verifying (both pre and post transmission), analyzing, evaluating, and reporting hourly and salaried payroll data for multiple business entities on a weekly, biweekly, and monthly basis. Additionally, the Payroll Specialist contributes to continuous analysis and improvement of all payroll processes and procedures, including related operational processes.

Responsibilities include:

Processing all aspects of assigned payrolls (using automated payroll system where applicable), including verification of time entries, new hires, rehires, terminations, tax information, benefit deductions, awards, leave of absence, relocation reimbursements, bonuses, fringe benefits, garnishments, child support withholding, auditing, and employee master changes.

Timely processing of manual checks and voids.

Data validation and review, including reviewing and validating interfaced data from SuccessFactor to UKG Pro payroll system, and coordinating and processing all incoming data from various sources (departments, field offices, automated systems).

Reconciliation activities, such as reconciling and preparing check requests and wire transfers for payroll liabilities (union dues, United Way, 401k contributions, etc.), reconciling gross to net payroll, and analyzing, preparing, and reconciling journal entries for upload into computerized accounting system.

Assisting in audits by providing records and documentation to auditors (401k, workers compensation, unemployment, W-2, wage reporting, etc.).

Ensuring accurate and timely year-end processing (W-2 and/or T4) including reconciliation of tax issues.

Knowledge in implementation and custom reporting for mergers and acquisitions.

Serving as a backup to three Senior Payroll Specialists and supporting the Payroll Manager.

Skills/Experience:

Experience processing payroll from start to finish, preferably in large, multi-state, union environments.

Experience with writing in sequel database is a plus, but not required.

FCP Certification is a plus, but not required.

High School Diploma.

Required Years of Professional Experience: 5 - 10 years.
