WHAT WE RE OFFERING

The Senior OSP Quality Engineer is responsible for reviewing OSP design packages from internal and external resources to ensure the accuracy and adherence to United Communications design standards as well as associated state/municipality guidelines. This position will help maintain a working document of United s design process and standards with guidance from Engineering Leadership. In conjunction this role will need to ensure quality assurance and be a SME of all fiber networks architecture and design principles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include the following, but other duties may be assigned as required.

  • Process and maintain concept proficiency for Distributive split + Distributive tap FTTH architecture.
  • Quality Assurance metric analysis for review and grading for all work type designs.
  • Conduct audits of internal and external resources to ensure process implementation of standards.
  • Assurance efficiencies to reduce Construction and Engineering s overall cost per/ft.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Must check the outgoing deliverable packages for quality standards including company, jurisdictional, local/national and customer project specific standards to verify all supporting documentation has been prepared properly.
  • Must return documents for re-work as needed, including uploading documents and communication with teammates, vendors, and Project Managers.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Understanding of FTTX Network Architecture.
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in related OSP, QA and standards creation experience a plus.
  • Previous OSP drafting experience preferred.
  • Previous Quality Control experience is preferred.
  • PC Skills requires a high-level comprehension of deciphering construction prints/drawings, GIS design, splice schematics, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Smartsheet's and AutoCad required.
  • Ability to operate in GIS software (ArcGIS).
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to comprehend, write, and effectively explain fiber/copper architecture and records and standards thereof.
  • Systematic and methodical in day-to-day duties and operations.
  • Able to effectively manage multiple priorities and prioritize, with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives, and make sound, well-structured recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, superiors, vendor representatives and clients.
  • Work seamlessly with various skilled staff from other departments or outside agencies.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions to Engineering Leadership, vendors, and outside agencies.
