The Opportunity:

The Senior Manager, Publications is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and execution of the medical publication plan. You will manage the medical writing vendors in the daily activities of writing and tracking our key scientific materials including manuscripts, abstracts and poster. You will work closely within Medical Affairs, aligning with Global Medical Strategy and the Center for Outcomes Research and Epidemiology (CORE), and cross functionally with Research and Clinical Development teams to manage the process of publication of Phase II/III/IV studies.

This role will report to the Senior Director of Medical Communications and Operations.


The Role:

  • Manage the process of Publications, Abstracts and Posters; facilitate Team calls to review upcoming publications planned, progress of manuscripts and congress abstracts and posters planned.

  • Provide direction to authors to ensure timely manuscript submission for RD disclosure approval including manuscripts (primary and secondary), abstracts and posters before submission to journals and congresses

  • Work with the Medical Affairs team and important cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the publication plan aligns with our medical communication plans, globally and locally.

  • Ensure cross-functional communication and collaboration on ongoing publication projects and project updates with key stakeholders internally and externally.

  • With Medical Affairs Leads, monitor the scientific literature, and identify and highlight key influenza and related publications relevant to Seqirus.

  • Communicate key scientific literature alerts and publication updates to internal colleagues cross functionally.

  • Work with Medical Leads, evaluate feasibility of system enhancements that refine complicated work processes in the publications arena.

  • Oversee the maintenance of the Medical Affairs Data & Scientific Communication/Publication Dashboard, posted internally.

  • Manage vendor relationships, monitor quality, and track daily writing assignment and progress for publications support activities.

  • Ensure the vendor selected is trained on internal policies, Good Publication Practice (GPP) Guidelines, internal compliance requirements and authorship criteria.


Your Skills and Experience:

  • Master's degree in business or health related field is required

  • Degree in nursing, pharmacy or advanced degree in science/medicine (MD, PhD, PharmD) preferred.

    Educational background in clinical or scientific study in infectious disease and/or vaccinology, or public health is ideal.

  • 5+ years' relevant pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical industry experience.

  • Experience in Medical Affairs or Research and Clinical Development preferred.

  • Recognized subject matter expert in scientific writing, publications, data generation and therapeutic specialty in influenza.

  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry as a Publications Manager is preferred.
