The Role

As a Communication Consultant you ll develop participant communications and overall financial education for participants of retirement plans within the tax-exempt market.

This communication consultant role sits within the Tax-Exempt Market, under Fidelity Personal Investing. We are aligned closely with Fidelity Workplace Investing, as we support retirement plans for tax-exempt employers and their participants. Our clients are organizations healthcare, higher ed, government and faith-based who want to help people live better lives, and our mission is to help their employees become retirement-ready.

You ll strategically analyze participant engagement data and develop communications strategies to drive participant action and improve client happiness. You ll deliver outstanding customer service as a key member of the client service team, contributing to team and/or cross-organization projects.

  • Ensuring strong client satisfaction through the seamless execution of effective communications strategies based upon client needs and goals, and delivering high quality communication services
  • Responding to client inquiries quickly with answers that go beyond the stated need and delight the client
  • Using consultative techniques to engage with clients regarding communication services and regulatory issues
  • Participating in and leading client meetings to review communication requirements, deliverables and alternatives, negotiating deadlines, and reviewing budget implications
  • Analyzing plan-specific materials to develop knowledge of each client s plan provisions and educating business partners
  • Navigating the complexities of operational processes and tools to deploy participant communications
  • Coordinating the development and maintenance of project plans and status reports to manage and balance multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Balancing client needs with focus on cost management by proposing solutions that fit within budget constraints
  • Measuring and reporting successes/opportunities based on identified plan goals following execution of communications
  • Listening for new client opportunities and actively engaging the Fidelity service team to address those needs
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and working with appropriate business partners to implement changes
  • Participating in additional project management responsibilities and department initiatives, depending on capacity
  • Up to 40% travel

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • BA/BS Required
  • 5+ years communications consulting or benefits consulting experience preferred
  • Experience working directly with plan sponsors as part of a client service team or supporting function
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses or attained within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to analyze employee and plan data to illustrate impact of Fidelity communications and identify custom solutions
  • Strong public speaking and consultative techniques to engage your audience in a compelling way while demonstrating Fidelity tools and products
  • Ability to read the room and focus on the aspects of Fidelity s participant experience that resonate most with your client audience
  • Your in depth understanding of the communication process, from writing and design through distribution across multiple media (print, internet, video)
  • The proven ability to work independently and build recommendations with little direction
  • A desire to continually improve how we tell the participant engagement story to plan sponsors
  • A natural curiosity to try innovative techniques to engage both plan sponsors and participants virtually
  • Strong subject matter expertise in Fidelity defined contribution products and services
  • Your proven project management success
  • Your knowledge of the communications and financial industry and standards
  • Ability to work closely with other service team members for the benefit of the client
