Job Description

Come join Takeda and lead the development, integration and deployment of Automation project strategies which may cross several disciplines; evaluate alternatives against agreed criteria. With team, select strategies and appropriate level of risk and understanding full range of implications across the system.


You will be a part of the Automation Engineering Team. The Automation Engineering Team ensures that the manufacturing equipment/systems and Automation systems used in the manufacture, storage, testing, and distribution of Takeda products are fit for purpose following Takeda standards and industry regulatory requirements.


You will report to the Associate Engineering Director - Automation Manufacturing in Social Circle, GA.


Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement new product/processes requiring development of technologies
  • Plan and schedule project implementation.
  • Define scope of work for project team.
  • Manage, hire, develop and recognize technical staff;
  • Create employee and organizational development and HR plans which meet needs.
  • Apply specialized knowledge in a creative way to a broad range of difficult problems
  • Analyze proposals to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures.
  • Approve and submit proposal to Sr. Management
  • Responsible for preparation of project cost estimates up to multi-million dollar range.
  • Manage and forecast all project expenditures and cost tracking.
  • Lead the planning automation components for medium and large capital projects.by working in teams as the Engineering lead/representative for manufacturing or utilities automation area.
  • Mentor Automation Engineer on the system functionalities and sequence of operation.
  • Oversee contractor's and internal resources' execution on the following areas system design, programming, configuration, integration, panel construction and field installation
  • Responsible for policy setting and defining procedures for the staff in accomplishing and documenting projects.
  • Help develop overall engineering department policy.
  • Approve protocols and support documentation (engineering change requests, system change forms) to secure project release.
  • Develop staff members to assume technical approver role.
  • Develop strategic resource plan from multiple global locations and engineering resources.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • BS in relevant engineering discipline, MS preferred, 10-12 years experience
  • Experience programming/design "hands-on" experience with Automation System (Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell, Rockwell, or other), SCADA and Data Historian system.
  • Experience configuring, troubleshooting and using Windows Operating Systems, Networking, virtualization and Databases for Control System Applications.
  • Experience with data historian (OSI-PI) and reporting tools are desirable.
  • Experience supporting control systems in a Pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment.
Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies
  • Must be well versed in engineering disciplines (e.g. fluid flow, thermodynamics, heat transfer, static's and dynamics, engineering materials).
  • Must possess knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, FDA guidelines, purchasing practices and process validation.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to analyze and address complex problems through thought and experience.
  • Manage multiple teams simultaneously.
  • Design and influence outside of immediate scope of responsibility.
  • Maintain industry contacts and be involved in industry interest groups. Proven track record of management/leadership effectiveness.
Important Considerations

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. You may:

  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work in a cold, wet environment.
  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours.
  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$133,000.00 - $209,000.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.


U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
