The person in this position will be a thought leader who partners with the Talent and Development team, the broader Human Resources team, and key stakeholders to design and develop cutting-edge learning solutions that provide a real return on investment for a global audience. They will leverage a wide array of research-based practices, instructional strategies, and technology in order to deliver engaging, relevant, and scaffolded learning experiences. In addition, they are data-driven, creative, out-of-the-box thinkers who are well-versed in instructional design methodologies, educational technology, and evaluation models.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive and thoughtful analysis of user needs, competitive and market trends, and historical learning experience performance to draw out key insights and make targeted recommendations.
  • Outline requirements needed to improve outcomes and learning experience, including data-driven evaluation results and research-based learning science principles.
  • Work through a creative, iterative, design thinking process to create relevant learning experiences that directly tie to SEI's success behaviors.
  • Partner with subject matter experts, the broader human resources team, and key stakeholders to design and develop courses.
  • Write relevant learning, application, and impact objectives, as well as active learning activities and assessments that align all of these together and with program level outcomes.
  • Make recommendations to broad audiences that reflect a sound and well-constructed learning solution.
  • Communicate status of learning projects to key stakeholders.
  • Maintain calendar and milestones of projects.
  • Evaluate and report on resulting outcomes of learning experiences at all levels of the Kirkpatrick Model, highlighting areas for improvements and proposing instructional interventions to improve experience and learning.
  • Engage in continuous improvement by participating in professional development

Job Skills:


  • Applying research-based learning science to the practice of course design and development;
  • Ability to take a human-centered design approach to understand root causes, design for impact, and iteratively improve learning design and address specific learning needs
  • Ability to evaluate and report on the resulting outcomes of learning at all levels of the Kirkpatrick Model to ensure business results
  • Ability to build learning that is customized and personalized, yet able to scale for a global audience
  • Excellent collaboration with internal stakeholders to create optimized learning solutions
  • Strong working knowledge and experience working with various types of educational technology, including Workday learn
  • Project management (e.g. managing time, establishing priorities, distributing responsibilities, meeting milestones and deliverables)
  • Eager to learn, grow, and to contribute to a dynamic team.
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision, as well as in a team.

Work Experience:

  • At least five to seven years of prior related work experience (e.g. designing unique and creative learning experiences)

Education:

  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution preferred

  • Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. Travel will be more common for roles such as Account Executives (25 - 50%), senior leaders (10 - 20%) or Capella Core Faculty (5 - 10%).
  • Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs.
  • If offsite or hybrid role, must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.
