(Current UI employees are not eligible for incentive) The UI Heart and Vascular Center is seeking a full time (100%) Senior Imaging Technologist to perform specialized digital angiography imaging utilizing complex imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during Adult Electrophysiology procedures. Work Schedule: 4 - 10 hour Day shifts with Rotating day off (Monday - Friday) Rotating late stay shifts No nights, weekends, or holidays Duties to Include: Implements interventions according to department, division and/or unit policies, procedures and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions. Follows general policies and procedures in accordance with regulations of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and the UI Heart and Vascular Center. Maintain quality assurance in accordance with hospital, department and area standards. Use proper septic techniques including, but not limited, to skin preparation and IV placement. Safety precautions are used to minimize or eliminate risks to patients, personnel and equipment. Manipulate, adjust and control the complex electronic and computerized components of the imaging system to produce patient examinations and research project while performing quality assurance procedures and evaluating system performance throughout the working day. This includes independent operation with minimal physician supervision. Perform image processing such as 3-D reconstruction and image reprocessing and non-imaging functions such as spectroscopy. Demonstrate ability to monitor vital signs and record in EMR. Prepare and administer contrast material to patients under radiologist's supervision as required. Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data. Establish rapport with patient and provide information about how the exam is performed and what is required of the patient. Plan daily regular and STAT scheduling for efficient room utilization. Provide instruction to trainees, students and other medical staff on operation and safety precautions. Participate in phantom and/or animal research as required. Maintain current knowledge of developments in specialty imaging area and related subjects with periodic software updates by attending meetings, continuing education programs, participates in professional organizations and/or reviews journals or publications. Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public. Demonstrates acceptance of responsibility; pride in work performed; and flexibility in acceptance of assignments while consistently maintaining professional behavior and appearance. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Requirement: A Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience Requirements: 6 mos. imaging tech experience required (Cath or EP setting preferred). Proven capacity to function with a high degree of autonomy while actively collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team is required. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills required. Certification/Licensure Requirements: Certification in American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or other radiologic related technological certification required. Iowa Permit to Practice by the State of Iowa for all technologists operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment required. Current certification in Basic and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support required. Desired Qualifications: 1 year imaging tech experience (Cath or EP setting preferred) desired. Previous experience using electronic medical records desired. Knowledge of University policies, procedures and regulations desired. Membership in position-related professional societies desired.
