Senior Grant Accountant

This nonprofit organization is currently in search of a strong and collaborative Senior Grant Accountant to join the team.
Located in central SA and in a laid-back environment, the Senior Grant Accountant will be responsible for oversight of grant proposal budget development, review of proposal requests, and finalization of proposals.
Responsibilities of the Senior Grant Accountant:
- Monitor and approve project expenditures, including monthly assessments of fund activity to prevent overruns.
- Manage the timely and accurate submission of granting agency reports.
- Deliver training programs related to financial administration of grants, and continuing education for personnel.
- Prepare the deferred grant process to match revenues and expenditures for grants each month end.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures and business processes to ensure financial grant compliance.
- Work directly with auditors and respond to audit inquiries.
- Monitor and analyze restricted fund accounts.
The Senior Grant Accountant should be able to:
- Verify procedural compliance and maintain internal controls.
- Oversee, lead, and cross-train supporting accounting staff as needed.
- Prepare a variety of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
- Work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
What type of background is needed from the Senior Grant Accountant - Bachelors degree
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit space.
- 3+ years' experience in grant administration and grant budget development
- Demonstrated knowledge of Uniform Guidance (UG) and financial audit and reporting requirements.
- MBA or CPA is a plus
