Boeing Technical Data Services is looking for a Lead Technical Publications Engineer to join the team and support Boeing Global Services Derivative Airplane Programs in Tukwila, WA. This is a Union-represented position. Position Responsibilities: Analyzes detailed engineering information and data (e.g., engineering drawings, specifications, change requests, vendor data) to design, develop, and/or maintain operational documents for delivery to customer to ensure safe and efficient aircraft operation. Analyzes integrated aircraft systems operational characteristics to determine flight crew requirements. Leads analysis of data to produce or enhance flight operation technical manuals Oversees the evaluation of engineering changes based on customer requirements and proposes changes and manages implementation of changes. Acts as liaison with other Engineering Groups for issues that may need to be discussed/clarified with the issuing Engineering group. Evaluates engineering data for the development of multiple subjects of flight operations products to support new or revised airplane systems and to assure the technical accuracy of products being developed. Integrates complex engineering information and customer information into complete and approved operational data packages for flight crews (e.g., pilot, aerial refueling operator, flight engineer, mission operations specialist). Advises on flight deck/cabin issues related to engineering design changes and operational and logistical changes to enhance safety, improve efficiency, and reduce cost of operation. Travel to customer's locations, both internationally and domestic, to support technical interchange and project work group meetings, and to evaluate aircrew performance/procedures to standards. This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the Tukwila location. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience): Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and/or equivalent experience 3+ years of experience in aircraft performance engineering 1+ years of experience in Flight Operations Engineering 3+ years of experience working with airplane manuals such as Flight Crew Training Manual, Airplane Flight Manual, Flight Crew Operations Manual, Deviation Dispatch Guide including Configuration, and Quick Reference Handbook Willing and able to travel up to 10% This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience): Active Secret clearance 1+ years' experience in FAA or Regulatory Administration 3+ years of experience directly and indirectly supporting airline customers and suppliers 3+ years of experience working with aircrew in an operational or training environment 1+ years of experience developing or evaluating cost/price proposals and business cases Private or commercial pilot license (current or prior holder) 3+ years' experience working with commercial airplane Master Minimum Equipment Lists and Dispatch Deviations Guides Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Relocation: Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
