The Senior Environmental Professional (Planner) directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organizing, controlling, integrating, and completing geological projects within the area of assigned responsibility. This person will gain experience in managing and directing others on project assignments. This position will apply knowledge of job areas typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities may include Managing projects/processes and working independently with limited supervision. Coaching and reviewing the work of team members. Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Our Senior Environmental Professional (Senior Planner) position is located in Southern CA but can be performed Remotely with CA.

As a key member of the team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities, including:

The Senior Planner maintains positive relationships with clients and public agencies, prepares and reviews documentation, develops project budgets and schedules, prepares proposals, and manages contract compliance.

Work directly with clients and regulatory agencies to oversee project compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Perform research, strategic consultation, and preparation of NEPA documents for complex DoD, DOI, and private stakeholder projects.

Interact with various members of resource agencies, federal government staff, and private client staff on matters related to land use planning, project description development, NEPA compliance, and other technical issues.

Promote a culture of teamwork, engagement, quality service, and customer satisfaction to our public and private clients.

Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor(s).

Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.

Participate in the company's continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.

Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.

Perform other duties as assigned.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

MINIMUM Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in environmental science/planning or policy, urban planning, or similar from an accredited four-year college

10 years of professional work experience in environmental impact assessment, including demonstrated success in NEPA document preparation for federal agencies

Knowledge of project management

Ability to work closely with other EI/Montrose Project Managers to promote business interests in compliance with the company's mission, vision, and values

Other complimentary experience, such as airspace planning, land development/ entitlements, regulatory permitting, or military range planning is desired.

Varied experience completing research and preparing technical reports and agency submittals, data collection, and regulatory documents

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel, and ability to use related computer systems and software. GIS experience using ArcMap and other ESRI software is a plus.

Ability to work remotely and independently with minimal supervision/direction

Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite

Knowledge of computer aided software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.)

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors

Organizational skills and attention to detail

The position may involve local travel as needed.
