About the Role
As a Senior Engineering Manager at Instacart, you will steer the Treatment Serving team within our Growth Platform department. Your leadership will be pivotal in driving the operational excellence and stability of our systems that facilitate all marketing and incentive spend, impacting hundreds of millions in expenditures. About the Job
In your role as Senior Engineering Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Define and communicate the strategic direction for the team.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of the roadmap, aligning with company goals.
- Manage sprints and project deliveries, ensuring high standards and timely completion.
- Mentor and support team members for personal and professional growth.
- Foster strong collaboration with peers and key stakeholders across the organization.
- Lead the recruitment and hiring processes to build a high-performing team.
About You
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven track record with 10+ as a hands-on technical leader, preferably at a Staff+ level in a similar industry.
- 2+ years of experience managing teams of software engineers of 10 or more
- Strong background in backend development; experience with frontend and mobile is advantageous.
- Ability to craft and execute strategic plans that align with business objectives.
- Highly structured and proactive communication capabilities.
- Experience in staffing, mentoring, and leading engineering teams to success.
- Experience working with product managers, EM peers, and senior ICs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effective cross-functional leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
- Aptitude for creative problem-solving and implementing scalable solutions.
