About the role The Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and directing personnel in multiple engineering functions within the organization as well as the maintenance group. This position provides the engineering/ technical strategy for the organization and leadership for the technical teams and supports ongoing improvements in cost, quality, and factory efficiency. May also provide site leadership for other design engineering functions. This is not a remote position Responsibilities Responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and communicating the departmental strategy that is consistent with and supports the business unit's strategic initiatives The engineering functions include manufacturing, process, BOM creation, and ensuring that the engineering team is working in conjunction with the quality engineering group. Works with Engineering Staff to assist with new product development and programs to assure that new designs can be manufactured cost effectively, including contributing input to designs for manufacturability, overseeing the pilot production of new products and assisting with development of manufacturing-related inputs to new product teams. Manages all Capital Project Work and Budget for the site, from planning to install/commissioning, to release to manufacturing. Assists in incorporating automation and data acquisition equipment into the production process. Evaluates, recommends purchase, processes and tooling that will make manufacture of product more efficient and improve product quality. Provides technical oversight to the quality engineering function and technical assistance and training to production work teams. Trains, coaches, and mentors reports towards overall professional development and growth. Assures that departmental training tools are in place and that periodic training is scheduled and held as appropriate Qualifications Six Sigma Black Belt Certification preferred Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written to define specific product opportunities and associated key product requirements Strong CAD proficiency Strong problem-solving capabilities Strong knowledge in writing technical specifications Strong project management skills Education & Experience Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in an Engineering discipline required. Minimum of 10 years related experience in Manufacturing/Industrial, Quality, and/or Design Engineering required. Minimum 8 years engineering management experience.
