Position Summary:
The Senior Editor, Executive Briefings, manages the preparation and editorial review of briefings and scheduling requests from the Office of Development for senior university leadership. This entails working closely with OOD colleagues across the university, as well as the Offices of the University President, Provost, Board Chair.

The Senior Editor reports to the Executive Director of Principal Gifts within Stanford's central Office of Development. Responsibilities include establishing standards for executive briefings and requests, providing editorial guidance, managing production timelines, and ensuring that all work meets the highest level of quality. The ideal candidate is service-oriented-building strong working relationships across offices, and together with the Executive Director, acting as a trusted advisor and partner in advancing the engagement of university leaders with donors and volunteers. Experience in development and/or familiarity with Stanford strongly preferred.

In this role you will:
  • Manage complex editorial and production process for executive briefings and time requests, working across organizational levels.
  • Maintain high-level interactions with colleagues across OOD, as well as staff in the offices of the university president, provost, board chair to advance objectives and goals for the role.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of copyediting, as well as a working knowledge of university fundraising priorities, donor relationships and engagement strategies to help ensure briefing content is clear, crisp, accurate, and thorough.
  • Ensure that information and processes follow established protocols, policies, and best practices.
  • Manage the distribution of briefing materials and other relevant information.
  • Create and maintain guidelines, templates and job aids; regularly evaluate materials to improve effectiveness. Cultivate new methods to promote best practices.
  • Assist the Executive Director in evaluating workflow, resources, and make recommendations.
  • May develop and implement short-term strategic plans in anticipation of extended leadership outreach and engagement.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant work experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Experience producing highly effective work within the deadline and constraints of clients.
  • Extensive experience and understanding of job-required software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Google Docs).
This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures . The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate.

The expected pay range for this position is $104,000 - $147,000 per annum.
