Job Description

OVERVIEW

Salomon is seeking a Senior eCommerce Merchandiser/Buyer to lead the strategic procurement, assortment planning and merchandising for (url removed) across multiple product categories, including footwear, apparel, winter sports equipment, accessories, and gear. The Senior eCommerce Merchandiser Buyer will be responsible for identifying, and selecting merchandise assortments that align with brand objectives, consumer preferences, and market trends as well as effectively enhancing product findability, drive conversion and maximize revenue. This role requires a strong understanding of the outdoor sports industry, eCommerce merchandising principles, data-driven decision-making and a proven track record of driving revenue and profitability through effective buying and merchandising strategies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily:

KEY BUYING RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute strategic buying plans for footwear, apparel, winter sports equipment, accessories, and gear categories to drive sales and meet business objectives.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, marketing, and inventory planning, to develop product assortments, including exclusives (SMU's/RMU's), that align with brand positioning, target demographics, and regional/seasonal trends.

Conduct market research and trend analysis to identify emerging product categories, market gaps, consumer preferences, and competitive offerings.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams regarding pricing and market conditions to optimize margins and profitability.

Evaluate product samples, and conduct product reviews to ensure quality, performance, and brand alignment.

Analyze sales performance, inventory levels, and sell-through rates to identify opportunities for assortment optimization, replenishment, and markdown strategies.

Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and consumer behavior to anticipate demand fluctuations and adjust buying strategies accordingly.

Collaborate with eCommerce Operations team to ensure accurate product categorization, attribution, and presentation on (url removed).

Collaborate with cross-functional eCommerce and other inter-company teams to develop promotional strategies, marketing campaigns, and merchandising initiatives to drive traffic, conversion, and consumer engagement.

Stay on top of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and sustainability initiatives to inform product selection and decisions.

KEY MERCHANDISING RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute strategic merchandising plans to ensure optimal product presentation and navigation on (url removed).

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, category/product management, eCommerce operations, consumer service, digital product, and other teams to align merchandising strategies with business objectives and marketing initiatives.

Analyze website performance metrics, user behavior data, and consumer feedback to identify opportunities for improving product discoverability, category navigation, and search relevance.

Influence site merchandising tactics, including category hierarchy optimization, attribute-based filtering, and search result ranking, to improve product findability and drive conversion.

Curate product collections, promotions, and seasonal campaigns to showcase key products, drive traffic, increase average order value, and ensure product and category profitability.

Develop and maintain merchandising guidelines, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency and alignment with brand guidelines and industry trends.

Utilize merchandising tools and platforms to create dynamic product presentations, personalized recommendations, and cross-selling opportunities.

Monitor competitor websites and industry trends to benchmark performance, identify best practices, and adapt strategies to remain competitive.

Collaborate with the Global Brand/Content and Product Design teams to ensure accurate product descriptions, imagery, and multimedia assets are available for all products.

Continuously evaluate and optimize merchandising strategies based on performance data, consumer feedback, and industry trends.
