Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide overall engineering/technical leadership on the all the advanced fiber optics transceiver development of the US-MLT RnD team of the Coherent's transceiver business unit.
  • Provide engineering leadership and work together with marketing team and multiple function groups/design centers to develop new product roadmap and define technology development strategy.
  • Drive the development of new technology platforms for the next generation of advanced optical transceiver products.
  • Direct advanced product development and drive the NPI and customer qualification process for successfully commercialization.
  • Primary technical interface with key customers, such as Nvidia, Google, Meta, AWS, etc. These customers all have very high volume. All of them are very demanding in requiring immediate responses and access directly from the engineering leader to lead engineers.
  • Provide leadership and as key interface with key suppliers, both internal and external, of critical components, such as laser/modulator, packaging, and key ASICs, on the development of advanced components for the next gen transceivers.
  • Understand and influence the industry direction/trend through interaction with customers and various standard bodies and MSA groups.
  • Overall management responsibility of the entire longwave transceiver engineering team at MLT-US site. Working closely with our SHG RnD site to align the technical roadmap and leverage the engineering resources.

Education & Experience

  • Ph D or Master degree in Physics/EE/ME or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in optical transceiver product design and development.
  • Proven track records on leading the design and development of the advanced fiber optics transceivers for both datacom and telecom applications and successful customer qualifications.
  • Technical leadership and management experiences in managing a diverse engineering team.
  • Deep knowledge in optical transceiver technologies. Deep understanding of customer requirement for both current and future products.
  • Demonstratable ability to build the engineering team, including hiring, developing, and retaining the key engineering talents.
  • Manage and motivate the engineering teams across multiple functions to work together closely to maintain Coherent's leadership in the advanced transceiver development.
