Reporting to the Vice President, Government Relations for Aerospace Technologies (AT), the Senior Director of Government Relations - Space Technologies, leads government relations engagements for Honeywell matters with relevant Congressional oversight committees, includingAppropriations (subcommittees on Defense;Energy and Water Appropriations; andCommerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies);Armed Services; and Intelligence Committees. Applicants should also be prepared to assist with ExecutiveBranch engagement infurtherance of business objectives. These agencies include acquisitionagents within theUS Space Force;US Air Force;Combatant Commands;NASA;NOAA; andIntelligence Community, with focus on the National Reconnaissance Office.

Other duties will include engaging unaffiliated advocacy groups,including Federally Funded Research and Development Corporations;relevant industry associations; and trade groups that influence and/or support Honeywell business objectives. This position will work closely with Honeywell Defense and Space teams, among others, to addressdomestic and international capability gaps and requirements in support of the US Government, appropriate foreign governments, and commercial customers.

Responsibilities:

Represents Honeywell's interests before Congress,including Members, their staff, and relevant committeestaff members. Serves as a lobbyist for the Honeywell Defense and Space Political Action Committee, registered with the Federal Elections Commission in accordance with all applicable laws and statutes

Leads advocacy to support business objectives for the DoD and civil space technologies; recognizes opportunities as they occur and takes action to enable business objectives in a timelyfashion

Provides comprehensive insight into the regulatory and legislative process on matters relating to space policy, as well as the agencies and departments thatemploy space-based capabilities; requires the ability to gain deep understanding of motivations, sponsors and intended effects, and how these affect business objectives

Disseminates analysis of relevant statements of administration policy, proposed regulatory rules and pending legislation to company stakeholders. Obtains insights into contemplated policy changes and all aspects of enactment.

Understands operational intent of space-based systems and the relevance to existing Honeywell solutions and business objectives

Communicates effectively in all mediums to varied audiences, including the Congress; business leadership and their teams; and external organizations. Develop comments, white papers, briefings, and presentations in coordination with key Honeywell stakeholders on space-related policy for both internal and external engagements

Represents Honeywell at political fundraisers, building relationships that enable effective communication of business objectives

Supports employee political action committee recruitment activities; includes solicitations in accordance with applicable Federal Election Commission laws and statutes.

Qualifications:

Candidates sought will have deep expertise in space-based systems in furtherance of Honeywell Defense and Space business objectives - t his is not an entry-level position.

  • Candidates with space-related employment is required. This may include any mix of congressional, industry, and government experience in the fields of legislation, development, fielding, or operational work in support of customer requirements.
  • Candidates must have 10+ years' lobbying U.S. Congress in space-based systems.
  • Requisiteexperience can include any mix Congressional office staff; professional staff member for space oversight committees; Executive Branch liaison work in support of space-related missions and technologies; lobbying on behalf of space-focused corporations; and/or experience working in defense and space related agencies with a direct Congressional focus.
  • Relevant experience will also be considered and weighed accordingly for space-focused trade associations; policy organizations; and unaffiliated advocacy groups.
  • A bachelor's degree is required from a nationally recognized and accredited university or college.Preferences will be given to degrees that are technical, business or policy related. A postgraduate degree ishighly desired in similar fields.
  • A current top-secret clearance with access to special compartmentedinformation (TS/SCI) is required.Applicants with eligibility for special access programs (SAPs) and compartmented reserve (RSV) programs are highly desired.
  • Extensive knowledge of both Congress and Administration processes and procedures with defense and space appropriations and authorizations. Proven record of working with senior House and Senate leaders, political appointees, senior government officials, and high-ranking military leaders.

Proven background in working with corporate political action committees to represent company and employee interests with federally elected officials.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, ability to develop and execute political and legislative strategy, and competency in using Microsoft programs.
