Business Unit Overview:
Our Global Facilities Operations (GFO) team is responsible for the safe, sustainable, and cost-effective operation and maintenance of world-class facilities that enable the discovery, development and delivery of innovative medicines that help patients prevail over serious diseases. We deliver safe, effective, andstrategically aligned facility services around the world. This includesday-to-day operations and maintenance, employee convenience services, laboratory services, and asset and document management in close partnership with our integrated facilities management partner and stakeholders. Position Summary:

The Senior Director of Facilities Operations is responsible for ensuring the safe and compliant operation of multiple sites in the Summit, NJ region as part of the Global Facilities Operations (GFO) leadership team. With full accountability and responsibility for an operating budget exceeding $95 million, the successful candidate will be entrusted with the management of reliable site and utility operations for facilities containing R&D and Product Development as well as office space for several hundred employees. This role will collaborate with Global Capital Project Engineering to successfully design and deliver the site capital plan. The Senior Director of Facilities Operations is a full time on-site position and will be expected to cultivate a seamless partnership with key stakeholders, demonstrate an agile mindset, and adeptly lead the team through periods of change and high demand, bringing a wealth of technical expertise to site and utility operations and thereby contributing significantly to the overall efficiency and success of our organization's facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Summit Regional Sites Development

  • Lead strategic development of Summit Region Sites, collaborating closely with senior leadership to formulate comprehensive strategies and future footprint requirements for all stakeholders.
  • Assess technical feasibility of strategic initiatives, align plans with organizational goals, and ensure the success of the IFM strategy across the Summit Region.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and executive dashboards, advocate for discipline excellence, and foster an organizational culture that aligns with our company values.
  • Oversee a diverse multi-disciplinary team, encompassing BMS individual contributors as well as IFM maintenance, HVAC, electricians, cleaning, grounds, security, and other contract staff.

Technical Facilities Operations

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert in Facilities & Utilities Operations, collaborating with our Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) partner to address technical issues.
  • Ensure IFM decisions comply with EHS and GMP/Quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Global Capital Project Engineering team to implement strategic capital investments.
  • Ensure seamless coordination of the Integrated Facility Management (IFM) model across various facility functions to optimize efficiency.
  • Ensure delivery of compliant facility operations and uninterrupted site/utility operations
  • Oversee the successful delivery of soft services (including pest control, space planning & moves, catering, grounds keeping, housekeeping, event planning, mail services, reception).
  • Collaborate with the Global Real Estate and Security teams to ensure successful facility opens/closes/moves.

Finance

  • Serve as primary steward of a regional operations budget >$95M, ensuring compliance with all BMS financial policies and regulations.
  • Navigate dynamic financial landscapes, address budgetary constraints, and respond to emerging reporting mandates.
  • Manage Integrated Facility Management (IFM) contracts and oversee site amenities.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in engineering highly preferred; related technical degree coupled with hands-on utilities operations experience could be considered. Possession of an MBA is also beneficial.
  • Professional Experience: 15+ years of experience in a highly regulated pharmaceutical/GMP environment, with 10+ years dedicated to utilities operations (Boilers/steam systems, Cogens, HVAC, Water treatment, electrical distribution, compressed air, refrigeration, etc.).
  • Dynamic Environment Skills: Proven success in delivering results within a dynamic and fast-paced, highly regulated setting.
  • Financial Management: Demonstrated experience managing large budgets, exceeding $95 million.
  • Maintenance Organization Management: A track record of managing a maintenance organization, including expertise in planning, scheduling, prioritization, CMMS, documentation, work order management, MRO, and reliability.
  • Integrated Facility Management (IFM): Proven success in working within an Integrated Facility Management (IFM) model, ensuring seamless coordination among various facility functions to optimize operations and efficiency.
  • Leadership Experience: Significant experience in large team/program leadership, with both direct and indirect leadership responsibilities.
  • Safety Compliance: Experience leading teams in compliance with maintenance safety programs, including lockout/tagout, confined space safety, and machine guarding.
  • Facility & Employee Experience Management: Proven ability in managing facility and employee experience, including soft services such as food/caf, various amenities, housekeeping, pest control, etc.
