As part of the Global Oncology Products and Pipeline Strategy team, you will report to Vice President, Global Oncology Products & Pipeline Strategy and work with Global Business Development (GBD), Center for External Innovation (CEI), New Products Planning (NPP), Oncology Therapeutic Area Unit (OTAU), and Oncology Drug Discovery Unit (ODDU) to evolve and drive Takeda Oncology BD goals and strategy. How you will contribute: In collaboration with Global and Local Business Development, Center for External Innovation (CEI), New Products Planning (NPP), Oncology Therapeutic Area Unit (OTAU), Oncology Drug Discovery Unit (ODDU) and Cell Therapy Translational Engine (CTTE) : Refine and align the Takeda Oncology BD goals and strategy Identify, monitor and review near-term (within 3 years of regulatory approval) oncology partnering opportunities Lead / co-lead scientific / technical review of external oncology partnering opportunities Co-represent Takeda Oncology at major oncology related meetings such as: AACR, ASCO, ESMO, ASH among others Co-represent Takeda Oncology at major Bio-partnering meeting such as: JPM Conference, BIO, BIO-Europe among others In collaboration with Global (and Local) Business Development (GBD), Center for External Innovation (CEI) and New Products Planning (NPP), identify, monitor and review near-term (within 3 years of regulatory approval) oncology partnering opportunities that meet the Takeda Oncology BD strategy In collaboration with Global Product / Project Teams and Global Medical Affairs (GMA), assist in the development of Life Cycle Management (LCM) plans that: Expand / investigate the utility of Takeda Oncology agents within their primary oncology indication Expand / investigate the possible utility of Takeda Oncology agents to other oncology indications Expand / investigate the possible utility of Takeda Oncology agents to non-oncology indications Explore the development of novel formulations that increase / extend the patent life Explore the development of novel manufacturing approaches that increase / extend the patent life Explore the development of novel combinations / biomarker strategies formulations that increase / extend the patent life Explore / maximum cost effectiveness of external medical / clinical collaborations with NCI, Oncology Cooperative Groups as well as major Oncology Cancer Centers. In collaboration with OTAU and NPP, serve on Disease Area Strategy (DAS) Teams to: Provide input into current DAS strategies Identify external partnering opportunities aligned to the DAS strategy. In collaboration with CEI, ODDU, CTTE and Takeda Ventures/ TVI participate in the identification and review of early stage (pre-clinical proof of concept) oncology opportunities for either partnering and/or investment. In collaboration with Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA), monitor and communication with Takeda Oncology current and emerging regulatory initiatives in the following areas: Novel endpoints for regulatory approval Novel statistical designs to support regulatory approval Novel regulatory review guidelines for approval of cancer drugs and /or cancer biomarkers In collaboration with OBU Scientific & Competitive Analysis (SCA) and R+D Competitive Intelligence (CI) and Data Sciences Institute (DSI) teams: Monitor the current as well as emerging Oncology Competitive Landscape and Medical Landscape in key oncology areas of interest Develop a tracking / monitoring system for both competitive agents as well as potential partnering opportunities In collaboration with Onconnect Committee, NPP and DAS Teams, work to develop series of Oncology Seminars/ KOLs interactions to educate Takeda on current and future emerging medical landscapes in key oncology disease areas as well as emerging treatment / technologies for cancer. In collaboration with program management, to ensure that projects are properly and accurately tracked Develop and present presentations to leadership in various forums including but not limited to Core Meetings, TOMM, governance meetings and external parties Co-lead governance activities including PRC and BSC as well as draft appropriate sections to governance documents. Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: BA/BS degree in a life-sciences, or equivalent related education and experience. MBA/PhD/MD degrees preferred. At least 10 years experience in Business Development and Licensing within pharmaceutical or biotech sector, with focus on oncology, hematology or immuno-oncology. A track record of success in sourcing/driving business development opportunities for the commercial organization A well-established commercial/academic network is strongly preferred along with a progressive knowledge of creative alliance structures, industry trends, and competitive issues related to pharmaceutical business development.
