Actalent is working with a solar energy storage company, developing projects in the multi-dwelling unit (MDU) residential solar market. Our client presently has a project pipeline of more than $1.0B, including the Island Palm Communities project across 9 military housing communities in Hawaii. Its pipeline based on a groundbreaking single-phase inverter/energy storage system product for the MDU market. We are a company of dedicated professionals growing rapidly and looking for a motivated individual to drive MDU project execution, both for projects that are self-constructed and those where construction leverages existing EPCs. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Construction Manager to lead construction of multi-dwelling unit residential solar + energy storage projects in Hawaii and California. Eligible candidates will be a hands-on, highly skilled resource with a combination of staffing, project management, financial and operational administration, technical and leadership experience. A background in large commercial photovoltaic project construction and knowledge with proven success managing a diverse set of responsibilities, as well as possessing superb communication skills is foundational. The position has responsibility for MDU projects in the United States, focused initially on Hawaii and California. Heavy travel to, or initial location in Hawaii is required. utilizes a dual approach of self-constructing or partnering with EPC's, depending on the project, so the candidate will assist in that decision. We are seeking an individual whose background includes: Bachelor's in Construction Management or other related field Proven leadership skills, with individuals that report directly or belong to stakeholders inside and outside of the organization Minimum of eight (8) years of project management experience is desired Minimum of 4 years field management/supervision experience is desired Only commercial construction experience will be considered. Must have a blend of GC and CM project experience. Heavier weighted to CM work. Multiple large ground-up project experience required. Demonstrated troubleshooting logic and ability to solve problems with stakeholders and generate work-arounds Experience in either the California or Hawaii solar markets Strong knowledge of the construction industry including construction contracts, material, equipment, project scheduling and oversight, and financial acumen Ability to work in a fast-pace environment; multi-task effectively; and an ability to maintain attention to detail Strong written and oral communication and negotiation skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Project, and Excel Experience with permitting and interconnection a plus OSHA-10 and OSHA-30 certifications a plus Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Create and execute staffing plans for multiple concurrent projects Manage disparate projects and workforces across multiple projects Assist in contracting with EPCs for projects where the owner will not take the "Construction" role. Lead troubleshooting activities at the project site, working with Project Engineering, Product Engineering and other stakeholder organizations; create and execute workaround plans and short term problem mitigation. Conduct and facilitate regular status meetings with team members, subcontractors and, when appropriate, project owners, architects and engineers Promote and maintain high quality control and safety standards on all projects Develop accurate project estimates, financial objectives and realistic project plans and schedules against which the project will be run and managed Effectively manage project scope by ensuring any changes to scope are documented and approved with change order forms. Laisse with Project Engineering and Product Engineering teams on strategy for execution as well as product configurations Proactively address and resolve issues related to the projects Effectively work with utility, customer and equipment commissioning on assigned projects. Assist in securing required permitting & schedule required inspections as necessary during entire construction process, including interconnection with local utility Maintain on-site document control including project binders, shop drawings, construction drawings and any other relevant construction documentation Develop and manage cost, quality and schedule metrics and report status against them on a regular basis. Keep project drawings current; continuous review of drawings and details, work with project engineers to provide and develop project specific drawings and as-builts required for permitting and customer closeout.
