Role Overview:

Could you be our next Senior Associate Actuary? Globe Life is looking for an experienced Senior Associate Actuary to join the team.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining models for valuation and financial reporting for the foreign branch operations of American Income Life (AIL). The position will liaise with the Appointed Actuaries of these branches who are outside the United States (Canada and New Zealand). The position will work cooperatively with other teams within the Actuarial department including the experience studies, pricing, and valuation, as well as the AIL controller team.

As the position develops, the incumbent will also be expected to support some non-branch reporting processes. The incumbent must maintain a working knowledge of IFRS 17 reporting requirements and will be expected to promote some basic knowledge of these requirements to others on the Valuation team.

This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, TX (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday).

What You Will Do:

  • As directed by the Vice President & Managing Actuary (or subsequent supervisor), develop, and maintain PolySystems and spreadsheet models for IFRS 17 reporting for the Canadian and New Zealand branch operations.
  • Work cooperatively with Life and Health Pricing, Experience Study, and AIL controller teams to support effective financial reporting for the AIL branches.
  • Work closely with valuation and controller team to complete quarterly and annual valuation/financial reporting tasks.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging regulatory developments, particularly with respect to IFRS 17.
  • Promote broader knowledge of IFRS 17 across the broader valuation team.

What You Can Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (A.S.A.) required.
  • Minimum five years experience. Working experience in a valuation role would be preferred.
  • Demonstrated mathematical ability required.
  • Solid technical actuarial skills required, including valuation fundamentals and methods.
  • Strong MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) skills required.
  • Experience with PolySystems.
  • Understanding of PC server-based data warehouses and data storage strategies for valuation and reporting. Database (SQL) and/or programming skills (VB) is a plus.
  • Understanding of general ledger accounting methods and systems, and experience interacting with financial reporting accountants.
  • Valuation experience with selected products; traditional life and limited benefit health products.
  • Ability to work well in team-based environment.
  • Well-organized, with the ability to handle several projects simultaneously.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to company goals and objectives.
  • The ability to work alongside others with differing backgrounds and competencies.
  • Ability to work on issues that are not discretely defined.
