Summary

The MIL Corporation is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant ( Accounting, Senior Manager)for a new opportunity supporting a Federal client. The Senior Accountant would be responsible for a diverse range of responsibilities, including performing internal audits, preparing, and reconciling ledgers, and preparing financial statements. Additionally, you will oversee subordinate accountants, process transactions and invoices, and provide strategic guidance on complex accounting and financial issues. We are interested in candidates with a strong background in managerial accounting, cost analysis, and financial planning. The position is contingent upon award.

This position currently requires an on-site schedule with the possibility for a hybrid telework arrangement. Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Performing internal audits, preparing/reconciling ledgers, and preparing financial statements
  • Managing subordinate accountants and providing guidance and support, as needed
  • Processing transactions and invoices efficiently and accurately
  • Solving complex accounting and financial problems with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Advising on managerial accounting issues and providing strategic insights to support decision-making
  • Conducting job order costing and process costing analysis to ensure cost-effectiveness
  • Establishing cost-volume-profit relationships and performing profit planning
  • Analyzing standard costs and establishing flexible budgets and indirect costs
  • Controlling decentralized operations and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Pricing products and services appropriately based on thorough cost analysis
  • Identifying relevant costs in decision-making processes to optimize financial outcomes
  • Providing expert advice on capital budgeting and investment decisions using net present value analysis
  • Allocating costs to departments accurately and efficiently
  • Analyzing financial statements to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Advising on financial accounting issues and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Performing transaction analysis and value inventories accurately
  • Analyzing the utilization and retirement of operating assets to maximize efficiency
  • Evaluating earnings per share and providing insights to support shareholder value
  • Preparing, accounting for, and advising on income taxes, leases, pensions, and other post-employment benefits
  • Analyzing the impact of changing prices on financial performance
  • Preparing and analyzing consolidated financial statements accurately
  • Translating foreign currency transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Accounting for partnerships and other business entities according to accounting standards
  • Managing financial forecasting processes to support strategic planning
  • Analyzing financial decisions using discounted cash flow techniques
  • Performing cash management activities to optimize cash flow

Travel

Up to 15% annually, as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial analysis, and financial operations
  • Federal financial management experience
  • Proficient in Momentum-based accounting systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior or current experience executing such activities of this role with the DOJ, any of its components, or other law enforcement agencies
  • CPA or CMA

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; Master's Degree in Business Administration preferred

Clearance

Willing to undergo a Public Trust background investigation.

Salary at MIL is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, and contractual limitations. For this position, the projected compensation range is $100,847-$151,271 per year.
