Job Description: Senior Accountant

Position Overview: The Senior Accountant position plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, providing insightful financial analysis, and assisting with strategic financial decisions. As a Senior Accountant, you will leverage your extensive accounting experience to lead and oversee various accounting tasks, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting and Analysis:

    • Prepare and analyze complex financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    • Provide insights into financial performance, trends, and variances to support decision-making.
    • Collaborate with management to develop financial forecasts and budgets.
  2. General Accounting:

    • Oversee the maintenance of general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
    • Perform complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
    • Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  3. Supervision and Leadership:

    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering their professional growth.
    • Review the work of junior accountants, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
    • Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure smooth workflow and efficient processes.
  4. Compliance and Audit:

    • Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and standards, including GAAP and relevant industry guidelines.
    • Assist in coordinating and supporting internal and external audits.
    • Lead the preparation of audit schedules and respond to audit inquiries.
  5. Process Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and strengthen controls.
    • Implement improvements to accounting systems, workflows, and reporting procedures.
  6. Financial System Management:

    • Utilize advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
    • Troubleshoot issues, provide user support, and contribute to system enhancements.
  7. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with departments across the organization to exchange financial information and insights.
    • Provide financial expertise and contribute to strategic discussions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior role.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Effective leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
