Requirements:

Description of Role: To perform professional accounting, financial and audit work, record and report financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), review accounting records for accuracy; prepare financial reports, statements, and special financial analyses for both internal and external customers. Assist in governmental & grant accounting as well as fund transactions and reporting. Assist with the training, supervision and the development of accountant II and other staff.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree majoring in Accounting
  • 7+ year of Accounting experience

Job Responsibilities:

A. Prepare month-end close entries and analysis. Coordinate and manage the timely monthly closes on both GAAP and Governmental Fund Accounting basis.

B. Prepare and manage the completion of monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and analysis.

C. Prepare and manage the completion of reconciliations of revenue and expense for various programs and grants.

D. Train and assist in the professional development of the accountant staff.

E. Produce monthly financial reports for senior management utilizing PeopleSoft nVision report generator and layouts.

F. Prepare variance analysis of actual results to budget and prior year.

G. Update and maintain the FTE and cost pool allocations tables.

H. Prepare routine expense and profitability schedules for directors and program managers.

I. Assist with the budget preparation process which includes salary detail schedules, issuance of budget worksheets to management containing prior year results, assist department directors with their budget questions, perform allocations of shared costs across departments.

J. Prepare and import monthly financial reports to the Pennsylvania Department of Aging through the AccuFund system and other funding sources.

K. Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and supplemental schedules for PCA's audited financial statements.

L. Assist with providing financial information based on requests from our independent auditors for our year-end audit.

M. Assist with the training, supervision and development of new hires.

N. Manage major projects and accounting system conversion process.

O. Manage all tax filings and analysis coordination of filings with Payroll, IT and Fiscal.

P. Manage the ledger for the Representative Payee Program.

Q. Manage special projects as assigned.

R. Perform other related duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

  • Proficient knowledge of automated accounting systems
  • PeopleSoft and Intacct accounting software experience a plus
  • Strong Excel skills and basic knowledge of other MS Office applications
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP)

1. Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record, and continuous access to a fully insured car.
