Duties Monitor Designated Intrusion Detection Alarm Systems (IDS) to deter theft of weapons or ammunition across the United States Army Reserve Command (USARC). Generate reports for all alarmed facilities. Dispatch emergency services on alarms that necessitate action. Review incident reports to determine causes of problem or anomalies with the system. Provide technical assistance on operating and repairing IDS. Provide security updates to supervisor, USARC Headquarters, Regional Support Commands, and other Commands. Virtually overwatch alarm system testing to ensure systems are working properly. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position is subject to an irregular tour of duty to cover 24 hours, 7 days a week operations. Incumbent may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and work may involve mandatory overtime. This position is designated Key/Mission Essential. A KEY position cannot be vacated by the incumbent during war or national emergency without seriously impairing the mission. In the event of an emergency (e.g. inclement weather, disaster coverage, etc.), the incumbent may be required to report for duty outside of scheduled shift and be expected to report or remain at the worksite during dismissal or closure situations. This position requires the incumbent to attend and pass the Conventional Physical Security Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. This position requires the incumbent to attend and pass the Electronics Security School Course. Attendance to this course will be scheduled within 12 months of appointment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which is defined as work which includes interpreting physical security regulations; monitoring alarm/security systems for government and/or commercial facilities; dispatching emergency personnel to security alarm incidents; using a variety of automated data bases to generate and distribute critical security information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted. It is time-limited and may be extended in any increment up to six years with the potential to be extended beyond six years up to eight years. This position may be converted to permanent (career or career-conditional appointment) without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least two years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service and employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent. Army employees who accept a time-limited appointments (to include employees with personal competitive status) will be separated at the end of the time-limited appointment date if the Not-to-Exceed (NTE) date is not extended.
