Secondary School Nurse

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide school-related middle and high school student health care in coordination with BJA's lead school nurse; 25-hour (school-day) position PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Vital characteristics and behaviors Incarnates BJA's mission and guiding principles Collaborator Effective communicator (written and face-to-face) Able to assess and respond to situations quickly Strong organizational skills Attention to detail Committed to professional development in the area of nursing Effectively manage health needs of students during the school day Responding to health needs of students during the school day Effectively communicate with students, parents, teachers, and administration regarding student health needs Manage medical details for overnight field trips Manage emergency medications Graciously maintains school policies Communicates the religious beliefs of BJA to students and student affiliates Answers questions concerning faith, doctrine, and creed of BJA to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJA Effectively manage medical-related records of middle and high students to maintain legal compliance Manage student health forms Manage student immunization forms Maintain accurate charting of medical events REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Pediatric/adolescent nursing experience strongly preferred School nursing experience helpful Comfortable in a digital environment and able to learn new systems as needed Required Education: Bachelors
